Fighting For the Rights of Injured Workers For Over 25 Years

Repetitive motion injuries and loss of productivity

Some employees in New York may describe their jobs as monotonous, as they are doing the same thing each day at work. For some employees, this is a very accurate description, as they are continuously doing the same motion throughout the day. Repetitive motions are needed to complete certain jobs; however, this motion can be physically exertive and even damaging to one’s body. Thus, some workers suffer repetitive motion injuries.

Loss of worker productivity

A new study by the Institute for Health and Productivity Management indicated that musculoskeletal and mental health conditions were the top reported cause for the loss of worker productivity. Additionally, it was found that many employers across the United States do not sponsor disease management programs to address these conditions to reduce the costs incurred due to loss of worker productivity.

Repetitive motion injuries

With regards to musculoskeletal conditions, those surveyed listed conditions such as arthritis, low back pain and repetitive motion strain as the leading causes for absenteeism. Additionally, this survey found that the average person surveyed was 43 years old, with 61% of those surveyed being male. This information serves to illustrate the need to manage these types of conditions in the work environment, as they not only result in physical harms to the worker but also financial and productivity losses for an employer.

Suffering an injury as a result of his or her job can be a challenging situation. One not only needs to recover to overcome the injury he or she is currently suffering from, but they also need to recover to return to work. Therefore, seeking workers’ compensation benefits is often necessary. This not only aids the worker in the process to heal from the injury, but also address any losses suffered as a result of their injury.
